i was there in 84 (or 85) and in 90 - cannot remember the guilder to us dollar exchange for the life of me. (people were falling into the canal??? - scary stuff - lol) - i stayed in hostels a few nights - scary too - lol) - ended up driving up to the beauty, peace, and solitude of Den Helder "high" up on the dikes. Very pretty and quiet. Houseboats sound like a freakin hoot though - with us??? - oh man..... hope the canal is clean enough (splash)
